Candied Yams and Apples
Share recipe
Description
My husband's favorite (mother-in-law's recipe) for candied yams. It's more like a dessert than a vegetable. It is very easy to make, and very tasty.
Ingredients
- 2 medium apples - peeled, cored, and sliced
- ⅓ cup chopped pecans
- ½ cup brown sugar
- ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 2 (15 ounce) cans cut yams, drained
- ¼ cup margarine
- 2 cups mini marshmallows
Directions
- 1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
- 2. Toss apple, pecans, brown sugar, and cinnamon together in a bowl. Alternate layers of coated apple and cut yams in an 11x7-inch pan. Dot with margarine and cover.
- 3. Bake in the preheated oven until reduced and bubbly, 30 to 40 minutes. Cover with marshmallows and continue to bake until golden, 10 to 20 minutes more.
