Description

My husband's favorite (mother-in-law's recipe) for candied yams. It's more like a dessert than a vegetable. It is very easy to make, and very tasty.

Ingredients
  • 2 medium apples - peeled, cored, and sliced
  • ⅓ cup chopped pecans
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 (15 ounce) cans cut yams, drained
  • ¼ cup margarine
  • 2 cups mini marshmallows
Directions
  1. 1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  2. 2. Toss apple, pecans, brown sugar, and cinnamon together in a bowl. Alternate layers of coated apple and cut yams in an 11x7-inch pan. Dot with margarine and cover.
  3. 3. Bake in the preheated oven until reduced and bubbly, 30 to 40 minutes. Cover with marshmallows and continue to bake until golden, 10 to 20 minutes more.
