Dark Chocolate Orange Cake

Description
This cake is a dry and grainy texture with a hint of orange.
Ingredients
- 10 tablespoons butter, softened
- 1 ½ cups white sugar
- 4 eggs
- ⅔ cup sour cream
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 tablespoons grated orange zest
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- ⅔ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- ¼ teaspoon baking soda
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- ½ cup chopped almonds
Directions
- 1. In a bowl, cream the butter with the sugar. Beat in the eggs, then the sour cream, vanilla and orange rind.
- 2. In another bowl, stir together the flour, cocoa, baking soda and salt. Beat into the creamed mixture just until incorporated and then stir in the almonds.
- 3. Turn the batter into a greased and floured tube pan. Bake in a 350 degrees F (175 degree C) oven for 1 hour, or until it tests done with a toothpick. Let cool on a rack. Makes 16 servings.
