Description

A family favorite created by my grandmother, these delicious cookies where changed from 'Christmas cookies' to 'punch bowl' because of the likeness of the cherry to punch in a bowl.

Ingredients
  • ½ pound butter
  • ½ cup white sugar
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 14 candied cherries, halved, or more as needed
Directions
  1. 1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). Grease a baking sheet.
  2. 2. Beat butter and sugar together in a large bowl until creamy and smooth; scoop by teaspoonful onto the prepared baking sheet. Make an indentation in the center of each portion and insert a cherry half.
  3. 3. Bake in the preheated oven until cookies are light brown, about 12 minutes.
