Share recipe
Description
A family favorite created by my grandmother, these delicious cookies where changed from 'Christmas cookies' to 'punch bowl' because of the likeness of the cherry to punch in a bowl.
Ingredients
- ½ pound butter
- ½ cup white sugar
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 egg yolks
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 14 candied cherries, halved, or more as needed
Directions
- 1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). Grease a baking sheet.
- 2. Beat butter and sugar together in a large bowl until creamy and smooth; scoop by teaspoonful onto the prepared baking sheet. Make an indentation in the center of each portion and insert a cherry half.
- 3. Bake in the preheated oven until cookies are light brown, about 12 minutes.
