Pound Cake II

Description
A good pound cake recipe from scratch. This is great served with fresh fruit and ice cream.
Ingredients
- 2 ½ cups white sugar
- ¾ cup butter, softened
- 5 eggs
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 pinch salt
- 1 cup milk
Directions
- 1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a 10 inch round tube pan.
- 2. In a medium bowl, cream together the sugar and butter until smooth. Beat in the eggs, one at a time. Combine the flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt, add to the creamed mixture alternately with the milk. Stir until just blended, then pour into the prepared pan.
- 3. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes in the preheated oven. Cake is done when a toothpick inserted, comes out clean. Cool before removing from pan.
