Description
This is my Mom's recipe and she's the best cook in the world. This is a family favorite and freezes well too!
Ingredients
- ¼ cup vegetable oil
- 1 cup chopped celery
- 1 cup chopped onion
- 1 cup chopped green bell pepper
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 pounds ground beef
- 1 cup ketchup
- 1 cup chili sauce
- ½ cup water
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
- 1 tablespoon white vinegar
- 2 teaspoons brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon pepper
- 1 teaspoon dry mustard powder
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- ½ teaspoon paprika
- 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
Directions
- 1. Heat the oil in a large pot over medium heat. Stir in the celery, onion, green bell pepper, and garlic. Cook and stir until the vegetables have softened, about 5 minutes. Add the ground beef, increase the heat to medium-high, and stir until crumbly and browned, about 10 minutes.
- 2. Stir in the ketchup, chili sauce, water, parsley, vinegar, brown sugar, salt, pepper, mustard powder, chili powder, paprika, and Worcestershire sauce. Bring to a simmer, then reduce heat to medium-low, cover, and simmer 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
