Description
Chocoholics like me will love this one. Moist, but firm, with delicious melted Mars™ bars on top.
Ingredients
- 6 (1 ounce) squares bittersweet chocolate
- ½ cup unsalted butter
- ½ cup all-purpose flour
- 4 egg yolks
- 4 egg whites
- ½ cup white sugar
- 2 (2.15 ounce) milk chocolate covered caramel and nougat bars
- 2 tablespoons heavy cream
Directions
- 1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C). Grease and flour a 9 inch springform pan. In the top of a double boiler, heat chocolate and butter, stirring occasionally, until chocolate is melted and smooth. Remove from heat and allow to cool to lukewarm.
- 2. Transfer chocolate mixture to a large bowl. Beat in the flour and egg yolks. In a separate large glass or metal mixing bowl, beat egg whites until foamy. Gradually add sugar, continuing to beat until stiff peaks form. Fold 1/3 of the whites into the chocolate mixture, then quickly fold in remaining whites until no streaks remain. Pour batter into prepared pan.
- 3. Bake in the preheated oven for 35 minutes. Turn off oven, crack the door, and allow cake to cool in oven.
- 4. In a saucepan, melt chocolate covered nougat candy bars with the cream. Pour over cooled cake.
